Participating in the Kanshoku Project

Volunteer

August 2025 - Present

I joined the "Kanshoku Project," a volunteer effort with a clear mission: to combat food waste by delivering leftover meals from corporate cafeterias to community groups at no cost. My involvement began through a connection with a teacher from my Dual Diploma Program, and I now work with a diverse team that includes American graduate students living in Japan. Our activities, conducted in English, involve everything from transporting to distributing meals, allowing me to directly support the local community.

The experience of providing support through food has been incredibly rewarding; seeing the smiles and hearing the gratitude from recipients has given me a profound sense of purpose and a real understanding of what it means to contribute to society. Working within a multinational team has also been a fantastic opportunity to sharpen my cross-cultural communication and teamwork abilities. My goal now is to help this project grow by forging partnerships with Japanese universities, using my skills to make an even greater impact on solving social challenges.
