Assistant at the Study Abroad Fair
Internship
October 2025 - Present
I took on a key support role for the Senior Recruitment Manager at the Arizona State University (ASU) booth, run by Kaplan International Pathways, during a major study abroad fair. Leveraging my unique position as a previously admitted ASU student, I went beyond providing standard admissions information and offered firsthand insights to Japanese students and parents, addressing their specific concerns. A major initiative I undertook was to engineer a solution to streamline the advising process: I developed a web portal that instantly determined the best admission pathway for each student based on their academic and English scores. This tool significantly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of our guidance at the booth.
This role was a profound lesson in cross-cultural communication, teaching me the importance of empathy in building trust, both with prospective families and with other university representatives. By applying my IT skills to a real-world challenge in international education, I discovered a powerful synergy between technology and global exchange. This experience has solidified my ambition to harness information systems to create innovative solutions for social challenges.
